Get Involved In SSRC's World Refugee Day Activites

June 23rd & 24th - SSRC will be at Southgate Shopping Centre Refugee Support and Information Tent with Sutherland Shire Council. Please feel free to drop by and have a chat with one of our members, make a donation and find out more about who we are and what we do.
 
July 1st -  SSRC hosts "Welcome Picnic" for refugee families
We are seeking volunteers to help out at the event, as well as any other useful services or contributions such as catering, equipment or welcoming gifts (eg. native plants, flowers etc.) 

Activities will include:
A picnic at Gunnamatta, welcome to country and welcome from Sutherland Shire Council, a cultural display, water safety and fishing display, food, drink and entertainment

Monthly committee meeting

Our regular monthly online meeting is on the second Thursday of every month.

STARTTS Accidental Counselling Training Sessions

An "accidental counsellor" is someone who is not working as a professional counsellor, and who needs to safely and effectively support people from refugee backgrounds ‘on the spot’ who are experiencing distress or a crisis. These courses are open to anyone who expresses interest.

29th July - ‘Core Concepts’  

4th November - ‘Accidental Counselling’
